Dinner Outing?

Hello,

ONg lAi here. Our dear friends, Julie, Sarah and Zhen's birthdays are coming soon. So I was wondering if we can make time (just one evening) for a dinner outing, a clique outing.

We hope it'll be on the next saturday. 29th November. Meeting time is tentatively at the closest MRT station to the resturant preferred by more people around 6pm.

Julie and I was discussing about when we can meet and what foods we'll eat. The "we" was only Julie and myself, but then we decided to open invitation to all others since we've not meet up for ages. And i mean it, ages.

Always, when we try to meet for dinner, there's 3 main obstacles in our way.

Time- All of us have our own different schedules to live by and datelines to meet, but I believe, with the right efforts, we can always make time for a nice dinner with great company that used to occur every recess but not so during the past one year or so.
Budget-I know I can't persuade your parents to give you more allowance just for this dinner I'm proposing, but a gathering with friends versus money, I choose gathering and i hope you too. How long have we not contribute our dollars to paying a bill that we pay not only for the food and place to sit but also a great place to enjoy ourselves with the company of true friends? Think of it this way, for the times we didn't meet up, we have been saving aside some money for this. And the prolonged period that we have not see each other, only makes these dollars more worth-spending!!
People-when more of your close friends and friends are around, you will enjoy more cause there's more catching up to do. Do i have to explain more?

Hope you took some time to really read through the above, and it sounds convincing, not cheesy. Then you think it's an excellent idea, but the good memories only lasted for a few moment and you remember some external factors that diminished the good moments you were thinking about. Like the waiting for such a big number of seats, or hopping from place to place hoping to find a place that can accommodate us all after giving up hope on the previous venue. Or not able to agree on a place to dine.

True, dining in Singapore in a large group is hard but it's not impossible. We;ll have to decide where to eat first and hopefully get a reservation.

Hence, I've picked 2 restaurant from www.hungrygowhere.com based on budget consideration and the cuisine.

First is Dai Ka Jie Kitchen which is on the recently-opened level 5 of the hereens. Click on the name to find out more. Went there yesterday and saw it, food looks good. The price range looks reasonable, and there's a promotion of 15% off when you say "HUNGRY GO WHERE" when you pay your bill. It's close to Somerset MRT, if you want to know.

The second choice is Awon Korean Restaurant. I've personally ate there before, and I hope we can try out their Korean BBQ buffet,which i have not!! It's not going to be a big variety of things but it's buffet, so we can eat without care, except for one of us whose watching out for his/her waistline. The kimchi is good along with the other sides. It's located near City Hall MRT station.

Take some time to go through the website introducing the restaurants and the reviews. Hope I've got your salivary enzymes active!!

Food aside, let's not forget about the real cause of the gathering. Birthdays and good companionship with loads of catching up to do!! Interested, please show your interest on the tag box and choose one of the restaurant!! and upon closer to the date, we can confirm it and hopefully make a reservation for the number interested.

on a concluding note, I hope we'll see each other soon. The people confirmed currently is me and Julie. Please add to the number!!

Proposal of clique outing: Death of a Hero.

Hey guys and ladies,

I am here to propose the next clique outing. The cliche goes "a picture is worth a thousand words", so here goes.

Death of a Hero

This is a story about a Hero, a prophecy, and a quest to rid the world of all evil. It is also a story about the 100th Demon. the cause of all chaos, the maker of the Hero.

Will the Hero fall when he meet the 100th Demon, the greatest of them all?

I am doing free advertising for the play here but more importantly, this is a possible clique outing, depending on the response of the clique that is.

I will be involved in this play playing some of the percussion music and minor roles in this 70 minute play brought to you by The Puppet Square and percussion music by ZingO. Due to the fact that you are seeing only the front of this flyer, i have listed down the details about the play below:

Title: Death of a Her0

Date: 1-3 May 2008, Thursday to Saturday

Time: 8pm to approx. 9.10pm (this is a 70 minutes play but due to the 'live' nature, time may vary slightly

Venue: Esplanade Theatre Studio

Ticket Price: $25 (concession for students, NSF and senior citizens: $20)

Performed in Mandarin, English and some dialects as well.

Why??

This is a play with humor, meaning, horror, good vs evil and romance.
it has been long since we had a clique outing with the previous plan being cancelled.
Chun Ann (model for the poster), Tony aka Hiu Tung, Ruo Han, myself and some other ex-CCHYians will be performing some minor roles and handling the percussion music, hope you will support.
May 1st is Labor Day, supposedly, everyone would be free. Otherwise there's Friday and Saturday!!
This is a different and rare activity for a clique outing.

we will be gg to cineleisure to go K-box and have dinner! hope everyonecan turn up!!

On Sat, the 3rd day of CNY, we meet 1230hrs sharp at Sembawang MRT station, Yishun MRT station and Khatib MRT station. Since we are meeting at 3 separate places, just for the formalities, we will need 3 coordinators.. At Khatib side, can we have Sarah, and at Yishun, Mao Mao and at Sembawang, Julie yea? the 3 of you will just have to know who will be meeting you and then ensure that we get on the same train. easy peasy heh? haha. so sorry for not putting my name down, since even til now, i dun have everyone's number yet and not clear who lives where.

so pple, choose your meeting location then inform the coodinaters.

for those who have other programs in the morning, meet the whole gang at Cineleisure at 1315hrs, plus minus 15minutes ok? dun be over-tardy(or too early too, must be boring).

then we will sing until 7 ba, then followed by dinner at one of the affordable resturant at cineleisure or nearby.

hmm, if there's not enough space at K-box or the dinner(more easily solved), then we will try other outlets or catch a movie (which sound more risky since getting that many tickets sitting together might be hard) instead.

If you think you prefer high tech stuff, you are welcome to bring those battery operated ones with music. =) For paper lanterns make sure got the stick to carry it. Make sure you have candles to light up your lantern too.

2. matches or lighters

If you are so traditional you can use matches, savvy enough you can use lighter. Whichever works best.

3. sparklers

Go get those sparklers packed in a box, where you light at one end and it'll sparkle and burn until it extinguished. Mao will settle de sparklers, hohos.. wonderful. But if you have any at home can just bring.

I doubt anyone will want to bring a pot of tea to eat with their mooncakes cuz it's so ridiculous.

So I think that's about it. Just bring whatever you think that you will need la.

HELLO PEOPLE! Hmmm, okay so we're gonna have our outing on 31st dec right. So, we are planning to go Esplanade after we have our steamboat . Erm, so what will we be doing there .. There will be some activites there lah. But obviously , we're gonna miss it cause we're gonna go there after our steamboat. And there will also be fireworks there!
